Detox Smoothies for Weight Loss
Smoothies are detoxifying by nature because they provide your body with a boost of nutrition and are easier to digest than a regular meal. They also help you lose weight by limiting your caloric intake and help you break the craving cycle. In this post, I will share my favorite detox smoothies for weight loss recipes along with a five-day diet plan you can follow to help you reach your health goals. All the recipes are vegan and paleo.
Why a Smoothie Detox for Weight Loss?
If you research online, you will find lots of skeptical articles about detoxes for weight loss. Many claiming that detoxes are a waste of time and money. I beg to differ: your body will definitely hold on to the extra weight if you are eating inflammatory foods and keep assaulting it with toxins from your food and the environment. Reasons you need a detox for weight loss
Smoothies are the easiest and most convenient way to flood your body with an abundance of nutrients from fresh fruits and vegetables. Smoothie detoxes can help you lose weight because:
- They provide your body with extra nutrients, which helps with healing and reducing inflammation (read 101 Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie Recipes for more info).
- They take the place of other inflammatory foods you might consume instead.
- They cut down the number of calories you would otherwise consume. My smoothies are filling and sustaining. They contain around 500 calories. Regular meals can easily include from 500 to 700 calories (just check a restaurant menu).
- They reduce your cravings. The fiber and all the vitamins and minerals in your smoothies help you feel satisfied longer and not crave unhealthy foods.

How to Make Your Own Easy Smoothies
In 101 Anti-Inflammatory Smoothie Recipes, I provide you with a template to make easy and healthy fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies. It the template I used to create my 5-day diet plan for weight loss smoothie recipes. It goes like this:
- 1 1/2 to 2 cups of liquid
- 1 cup of leafy greens or 1/2 cup of chopped vegetables (like carrots, zucchini or cauliflower)
- 1-2 cups of fruits
- 1 tbsp of healthy fat such as avocado, coconut oil or MCT oil)
If you tend to crave sugar, it’s a good idea to use fruits that are not as sweet like berries and to use less (closer to 1 cup).
5-Day Smoothies for Weight Loss Diet Plan
There are a few ways you can do this 5-Day Detox for Weight Loss Diet Plan. You can have your coffee with healthy fat in the morning, replace lunch with a detox smoothie and have your regular healthy dinner (keep it at around 500 calories). Or, you can drink two smoothies a day for 5 days. Or, you can have your coffee for breakfast, a smoothie for lunch, and an avocado for dinner. Any of these options will amount to between 800- 1,100 calories a day. This extended restricted-calorie fast has many benefits: it boosts your metabolism, promotes cell regeneration, and floods your body with nutrients for healing. Some women can’t lose weight when they eat around 1,000 calories a day. If that’s you, maybe you have done to many long term diets. Restricted calories for long periods could harm your metabolism. It’s a good idea to change this up. I like to combine fasting mimicking with crescendo intermittent fasting. Green Detox Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup coconut kefir
- 1 cup water
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cucumber
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 apple
- 1 small thumb of ginger
- 1 head of romaine
- 1 scoop of Power Shake (or other greens powder)
Nutrition Facts: 539 calories (39% fat, 29% carbs, and 28% protein)
Tuesday
Creamy Mango Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup coconut kefir
- 1 cup water
- 1 frozen banana or 1 cup frozen peaches
- 1/2 cup cauliflower or zucchini (for some tasteless veggie option)
- 1 carrot
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 Tbsp MCT oil
- 1 scoop Daily Fiber Blend
Nutrition Facts: 530 calories (36% fat, 28% carbs, 26% protein)
Wednesday
Choco-Banana Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp cocoa nibs (you may use cocoa powder)
- 1/2 cup coconut kefir
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 frozen banana
- 2 Tbsp almond butter
- 1/2 cup cauliflower or zucchini
- 4 Deglet dates (or 2 Medjool dates)
- 1 scoop Daily Fiber Blend (optional, it will make your smoothies more filling – see info below)
Nutrition Facts: 570 calories (38% fat, 27% carbs, 27% protein)
Thursday
Cauli-Strawberry Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup coconut kefir
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 frozen banana
- 1zucchini or 1/2 cup cauliflower
- 3 Brazil nuts
- 1 scoop Daily Fiber Blend
Nutrition Facts: 515 calories (42% fat, 28% carbs, 30% protein)
Friday
Blackberry-Beet Smoothie
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup coconut kefir
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup frozen blackberries
- 1 beet
- 1 Tbsp MCT oil
- 4 Deglet dates (or 2 Medjool dates)
- 1 scoop Daily Fiber Blend
Nutrition Facts: 574 calories (23% fat, 34% carbs, 25% protein)

Groceries You Will Need
If you decide to do the 5-day detox and drink only one smoothie a day, here’s what you will need (just double the ingredients if you are having two smoothies a day):
- 1 cucumber
- 1 avocado
- 1 apples
- 1 thumb of ginger
- 3 bananas
- 8 Deglet dates (or 4 Medjool dates)
- 1 1/2 cup cauliflower or zucchini
- 1 carrot
- 1 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 cup frozen mangoes
- 1 cup frozen blackberries
- 2 Tbsp almond butter
- 3 Brazil nuts
- 2 Tbsp of cocoa nibs or cocoa powder
- 4 Tbsp hemp hearts
Daily Fiber Blend
